Holland in Bloom
We visit the Netherlands in spring, when tulips, gardens and waterways provide a colourful setting for its historic cities and rich artistic heritage. Travelling by Eurostar, the tour is based in Delft and includes Keukenhof Gardens, Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum, Gouda, Leiden Botanical Gardens, Dordrecht and the windmills of Kinderdijk.
Across seven days, we explore the country through its art, architecture, trading history and distinctive landscapes. Museum collections and historic streets reveal the Netherlands’ cultural legacy, while canals, market squares and characterful towns offer a more intimate sense of everyday life.
Spring brings an added dimension to the journey, with gardens in full bloom and the surrounding countryside at its most appealing.

Day 1: Travel to Delft
Travel by Eurostar from London to Rotterdam. On arrival, transfer to Delft. Check in to our hotel and enjoy a welcome drink reception to meet your fellow travellers, followed by a group dinner.

Day 2: Exploring Delft
This morning we explore Delft on a walking tour of this picturesque town, known for its charming canals, iconic blue pottery, historic churches, and ties to the Dutch royal family. Discover quaint streets, artisan shops, and peaceful courtyards.
The afternoon is free to explore independently—perhaps visit the Vermeer Centre, enjoy a canal-side café, or browse local boutiques.

Day 3: Keukenhof Gardens in Bloom
A full-day excursion to the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens, where millions of tulips and spring flowers bloom in a spectacular display. Enjoy time to explore the themed gardens and pavilions at your own pace.

Day 4: Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum
The largest city and capital of The Netherlands, Amsterdam started life as a small fishing village and became one of the world’s most important ports during the Dutch Golden Age. Wander the narrow atmospheric lanes and canals lined with 17th-century merchant’s houses and visit some of the many cultural and historic sights.
We include entry to the Rijksmuseum, one of the world’s greatest art galleries with a large collection of Dutch works, particularly Rembrandts, several excellent Vermeers, and a huge cache of sculptures and applied arts. The rest of the day is free before we return to Delft.

Day 5: Gouda and Leiden Botanical Gardens
Visit Gouda in the morning, with free time to explore the historic market square, admire the Gothic town hall, and browse charming local shops and artisan cheese stalls. After lunch (own expense), continue to Leiden for a visit to the Leiden Botanical Gardens. Founded in 1590, it is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world, and was created to support medical education and botanical research.

Day 6: Dordrecht and Kinderdijk
Begin with a guided walking tour of Dordrecht, Holland’s oldest city, exploring its medieval architecture, scenic harbours, and charming alleyways, followed by free time. Afternoon visit to Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is famous for its picturesque row of historic windmills set against scenic canals.

Day 7: Free time in Delft and Return Home
Enjoy free time in Delft before transferring to Rotterdam for your return Eurostar journey to London.
