Sample itineraries

Authentic Algarve
8 days from £1,750

This tour sees us travelling to the Algarve where we base ourselves in Tavira, a town with its unique mix of traditional architecture and Moorish influences. Out itinerary combines breathtaking beaches with Portuguese culture. Highlights include the dramatic inlets and lagoons of the Ria Formosa National Park, ancient salt pans and breathtaking mountain scenery.

Gardens of Marrakech
5 days from £1,495

The timeless city of Marrakech, which gave its name to Morocco, has an enduring appeal, with its low-rise pink and red buildings set against the magnificent backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Its beating heart is the square of Djemaa El Fna, where musicians and story-tellers and snake-charmers act out compelling scenes which have changed little over the centuries, and to which you will find yourself irresistibly drawn.

Malta
6 days from £1,145

Malta has a long and distinguished relationship with Britain and has been a popular destination for many decades. In 2018, the country really came of age as its ancient capital, Valetta, was European City of Culture, so now is a great time to visit with the city looking its best.

Northern Portugal
8 days from £1,975

Starting in the capital of Lisbon, we have time to explore and enjoy a cooking demonstration. We then discover the surrounding coastal area on this westernmost point of Europe, before heading to the UNESCO World Heritage cities of Coimbra and Guimaraes with their historic architecture and natural beauty.

Madeira
6 days from £1,425

The lush, volcanic Portuguese island of Madeira lies 400 miles off the coast of Africa and is 36 miles by 14 miles of outstanding natural beauty. Its warm, temperate climate makes it a verdant, sub-tropical paradise that is a delight to visit at any time of year. Much of Madeira has been designated a conservation area and it displays a wealth of superb flowers blooming effortlessly throughout the year.

Western Crete
8 days from £1,725

Away from the crowds and purpose-built resorts, the west of Crete offers an authentic experience of island life. This delightful tour will offer a glimpse of local life and, at the same time, introduce you to delicious Cretan cuisine at traditional tavernas.

Group reviews

“Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful week in Tavira and the surrounding areas of the Algarve. We had to work hard but we did experience many sides of Portugal that many travellers to the area would not see. Fishing, vineyards, olives, cork, salt and so much history. Luis was brilliant and to guide us in English too. Ellen worked hard with you designing the programme and then keeping the show always running.” Exmoor Extroverts – Authentic Algarve

“Like Mary Poppins, the trip was practically perfect in every possible way. Everyone is thrilled. Thank you for all your efforts and patience.” Cleveland Hiking Club – The Ancient Trails of Greece

“The trip was a great success with uniformly positive feedback. The Douro valley trip was excellent. Braga, Guimares and Porto were all delightful and Coimbra was also a good addition that all enjoyed. All three guides were first class, as was Angela, and the Vox headsets were invaluable.” The Arts Society Ebor – Porto & Lisbon

“All went well with our trip to Garsington. Highlights were-of course-the opera and Sulgrave which was especially lovely in the sun and blue skies.” Friends of York Art Gallery – Garsington Opera

“I enjoyed the tour very much and wanted to let you know that Gill was an excellent tour manager and looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble and any problems that might have cropped up were anticipated and dealt with without fuss. Peter our driver was excellent too.” Friends of the RSA tour of the Netherlands

“We had to write and tell you how much we and our group enjoyed our holiday with Jane for the past week, she went out her way to ensure that we saw the best locations and were given ample opportunities and time to wear our cameras out! We must also add our thanks to our driver Nikos. Jane and Nikas work very well together as a team and are a credit to, and excellent ambassadors for Travel Editions!” Windlesham & Camberley Camera Club – Epirus and Corfu

“Just to let you know that all went well and according to plan. Justin the driver was a great hit, very jolly and added to the enjoyment. Lovely coach too. The hotel did excellent breakfasts and our room on the 6th floor was great. Many thanks to you and others at Travel Editions for the big part you played in organising our very successful trip.” Kew Volunteers – Norfolk

Your questions answered

FAQs

If you have a question, we are more than happy to answer it via email or phone, but you may find your answer below more quickly.

Simply complete our online booking form or give us a call on 020 7251 0045 between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday where you can speak to a real person. A 20% deposit per person is required at the time of booking, to book your place. Payments by debit card or credit card incur no charge.

You must pay for the balance of your holiday at least 12 weeks before departure. Please note: no reminder for balance payments is sent to you and are not receipted unless requested. If you book your holiday within 12 weeks of departure, full payment is required at time of booking. Please note that some tours may require final payment to be paid earlier than 12 weeks, due to financial commitment with suppliers. The exact date will be notified to you at the time of booking. Final joining instructions and documentation will be dispatched approximately 10 days before travel.

In almost all cases, the price includes your accommodation, meals as described in the itinerary, all excursions shown in the programme, and travel arrangements from the UK. Excursions are taken by private coach exclusively for Travel Editions guests. If anything is ever excluded from the price, it will be clearly marked as optional and payable locally, you won’t find any hidden extras on your final bill. Travel Editions operates a firm no-surcharge policy, so the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

The specifics vary by tour and are set out in your individual itinerary, but most of our tours depart from London, either by Eurostar from St Pancras International or by air. For rail tours, we advise allowing at least one hour before the Eurostar departure when planning your journey to London. For flights, all costs are based on economy class unless otherwise stated, and all times shown are local time. For tours in the UK, these often start at the hotel in question.

Flight upgrades and connections from regional airports are available on request and subject to availability, contact us on 020 7251 0045 or at tours@traveleditions.co.uk for details. We strongly recommend not booking non-refundable connecting travel until you have received your final joining instructions, which are sent around 10 days before departure and confirm all timings and meeting points.

Yes, and you’re very welcome. Single room supplements apply on most tours, reflecting the fact that single and double rooms are generally priced similarly by hotels. If you would prefer to share with another solo traveller of the same gender, we are happy to arrange this, simply let us know at the time of booking. Sharing is subject to another traveller in the same situation being booked on the same tour.

Each tour is accompanied by a dedicated tour manager, who in most cases will travel out from the UK with the group. On some tours, the tour manager will meet you at your destination station or airport, with full details being confirmed in your joining instructions 10 days before travel. Many of our tours are also led by expert lecturers or specialist guides whose knowledge brings each destination to life; details of who will be accompanying your particular tour are included in the individual tour pages and itineraries.
