Day 1: Eurostar and local train from St Pancras to Antwerp.
Take the train from London St Pancras to Antwerp via Brussels. On arrival, transfer the short distance on foot across the square to the excellent Radisson Blu Hotel, a favourite of Travel Editions’ clients for many years. Evening welcome drink and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Walking tour of Antwerp, Cathedral of Our Lady and Museum Plantin-Moretus.
This morning we depart the hotel with a local guide for a walking tour of Antwerp, from the Art Nouveau Central Station to its Gothic Cathedral amongst the myriad of sights in the city. This will be followed by an internal visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady and its enormous treasure trove of works of art by world-famous painter Peter Paul Rubens. There will be free time for lunch (at own expense) followed by a visit to the Museum Plantin-Moretus, the only museum in the world to be inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Plantin-Moretus family began their printing office in the 16th century and their printing works are a strong part of Antwerp's heritage with the museum still being housed in the original building and workshops. Presenting 300 years of book printing, art and family history it offers the chance to admire the oldest printing presses in the world, a rich collection of art including portraits by Rubens and the renowned Gutenberg Bible, one of only 13 in the world. Evening at leisure.
Day 3: Rubenshuis and evening concert at Sportpaleis.
Morning walk to Rubenshuis to view Rubens’ work and its neoclassical courtyard and gardens. The artists residence is temporarily closed to the public until 2030 due to renovations however the Rubens Experience offers a wonderful insight into the life and times of one of the great Flemish Masters. We will have a guided tour to delve deeper into Rubens life and work including various valuable pieces from the museum collection plus a chance to walk around the newly redesigned flower and plant garden which is partly based on Rubens painting 'The Garden Walk'. After lunch (at own expense) you will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to explore Antwerp before the evening concert. Belgium's second city, Antwerp, is one of the world's largest ports, with a characteristically Flemish old town at the heart of a thriving modern city. Home and birthplace of Rubens, the city has a strong artistic heritage reflected in its host of churches and museums, including KMSKA The Royal Museum of Fine Arts, dating back to 1810 and newly open after an 11 year restoration. As with many Flemish settlements, Antwerp boasts a market square surrounded by 16th and 17th century guildhalls, whilst other unmissable sights include the church of St Paul, home to a collection of paintings by Antwerp masters. Evening departure by coach to the Sportpaleis for the main event of the tour – the concert featuring Andre Rieu and his orchestra. The package price includes a “Tribune” ticket in block 149/150 with upgraded seats available in block 153 (closest to the stage) at a supplement. Transfer by coach back to the hotel after the concert.
Day 4: Depart Antwerp by train to St Pancras via Brussels.

An excellent knowledgeable tour Manager made the trip without being overpowering. The only negative was the walking tour around Antwerp was 30 minutes too long.

Gill was a very good, and efficient guide. Extremely helpful and was very knowledgeable. Our return journey with eurostar was spoiled by our train breaking down, but Gill kept us well informed.

The brochure should emphasise the concert is not in English. Hotel beds were comfortable and food good. Unfortunately the sink in our bathroom was very badly cracked, but did not leak! Eurostar broke down! Despite these minor issues the tour was excellent and we would go with you again.
