An excellent and most enjoyable tour, thanks to the planning by the Andersons. The talks and synopsis sheet were packed with interesting information, and the visits to Hidcote and the museums were superb. The only negative was Stanway House - dull, time consuming, and irrelevant to the Arts and Crafts theme. it would be great if this could be replaced by a trip to the Wilson Gallery in Cheltenham, thereby keeping to Arts and Crafts, plus a much cheaper option for Travel Editions!

I enjoyed this tour and we were given a wealth of information by Anne and Scott, who were also very entertaining. However there was some duplication of info by the local guides and I felt that the walking tour of Chipping Campden (essentially a walk down the long High Street to see where various members of the Arts & Crafts movement had lived) could have been done without a local guide - perhaps those who were interested could have been given a handout to look for themselves as people walk at very different paces. The Hart silversmiths workshop was fascinating and the Russell Museum was a real gem. However it would have been nice to stay longer at Hidcote as 2 hours is barely long enough to take in such a large garden. Also the visit to the Jacobean mansion, Stanway House, was somewhat incongruous given the theme of the trip and the amount of information about it varied greatly depending on the local guide who showed you round. My group had a charming guide but he concentrated on tales about the family rather than the fabric and contents of the house. However it was a chance to see inside a decaying mansion which is still in use as a family home. The fountain was spectacular but overall I felt that the visit to Stanway was rather a damp squib. The hotel was comfortable and it was great to have a pool. Sadly the food wasn't impressive especially on the second night. I mentioned to the reception that it would be useful to have decaff tea readily available in the room and for breakfast (I could get it after dinner by asking especially). I might have been temped to stay for an extra night had the hotel been further into the city centre, but it was well placed for our excursions which always kept to time and we were expertly driven by our local coach driver. So overall a pleasant and informative break.

Anne's knowledge is encyclopaedic and she and Scott were very good Tour Guides. The Hotel Staff were very helpful to me. I was surprised that one had to pay for parking at the Hotel and also that it was 'Card Only'. Guess I should have looked at the Hotel website ahead of arrival.

Enjoyed the trip. Would probably have preferred visit to Hidcote to be in the afternoon as walk around Chipping Camden and Court Barn Museum was more intensive and lengthy.

The hotel rooms were not of a very good quality but the staff made every effort to please.

Good experience. Would have preferred to eat evening meal before lecture.

My first tour with you. I enjoyed the the tour, but feel there were too many on the trip 38! Which meant the group being split into three sub groups at times. There was not enough time given at Hidecote Gardens, after the NT on site talk, much of the information had already been covered by Alison the tour leader. Maybe give people the option of attending the talk, or going off on their own. Perhaps a handout with the history would be an option too. Would suggest having dinner prior to the evening lecture, as this process took a long time, and finished too late ie around 9pm. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

Excellent tour with knowledgeable friendly lectures & organisation by Anne Anderson & her husband. Very comfortable hotel, the only downside being to very poorly cooked dinners on Monday & Tuesday .e We dined independently in the hotel on Wednesday last & enjoyed a good meal, so cut-priced dining for our group--not acceptable

Anne and Scott are absolute gems and a real asset to Travel Editions. I will gladly take other tours that they, either singly or together, may offer. The extra commentary from Anne, the special touches and extra information throughout made our trip a singular experience

Excellent tour - except Stanway House - Fountain spectacular but not worth the journey to see, outside of house was beautiful but interior so neglected that history was hard to picture and was mainly due to the guests not the owners. Hidcote was wonderful. Prof Anderson's knowledge is outstanding and she is a brilliant, clear communicator. We will book more tours with the Andersons!

Slightly disappointed to have been so far out of Cheltenham which meant there was no time to see the town, but overall a great trip.

The hotel was very disappointing for a four star hotel, public rooms good but no air conditioning in the bedrooms and the meal on the first night very poor indeed
Review by Hoh who travelled 18-July-2022
Very good and well organised on the whole and Anne Anderson was excellent as always. At Chipping Campden there seemed to be a problem with the tour of the village and museum. We were told the silk mill and Catholic church were closed, when they were actually open and we wasted time in the museum. Hotel was OK, but there was a muddle with the bar food on our extra night and they didn't have most of the food

We found the whole tour very interesting and we have no complaints on this score. We will certainly do another with you and the tour manager and his wife who really kept us entertained with her knowledge of the subject.

The tours were very interesting. Anne and Scott Anderson are excellent at their job. We felt very well cared for. The coach driver was of a high standard too. The hotel was disappointing. The food on both nights was poor. We would have liked a better quality of hotel.

Comfortable room with tasty food for our group. Excellent lecturer & venue speakers, but one of us found the lecturees "somewhat intense". Good space in hotel room, but no drawers & the bathroom door hook was missing. (I did report it.) Lack of communication at Chipping Campden church - not open as planned.

Tour followed on wonderfully from the William Morris Tour we did at the beginning of the month, giving greater insight into the ethos of the A&C movement and exploring the development of the style of the later A&C craftsmen. It also considered the social impact of the Movement on the area. Expert guides at all locations made for a rich and rewarding experience and Prof Anne's evening talks were excellent - enlightening and demonstrating her passion for the subject. Dr Scott is a brilliant Tour Leader, very knowledgeable and entertaining. The hotel was very good: high quality food and wine, comfortable rooms, and extremely helpful staff.

A very enjoyable tour, with excellent organisation and guides. A bit mean not to supply wine with dinner on both nights.

Anne and SCOTT Anderson were outstanding. It is along time since I have heard such a superb speaker as ANNE. The guides in the two Museums were also excellent. Altogether a very interesting and enjoyable time.
